We would like to take our anniversary as an opportunity to pause, reflect, and, above all, look ahead together with you. Drawing on your experiences and ours, we want to explore key questions concerning network building, cultural policy advocacy, and solidarity within the independent music and cultural sector. At its core lies one central challenge: How can we become politically effective in the cultural sphere and achieve lasting change together?

At a time marked by political shifts, social polarisation, and increasing pressure on cultural infrastructures, fundamental questions are being raised anew: How can independent ensembles and orchestras remain capable of acting in the long term? What forms of collaboration do we need in order to sustainably safeguard our artistic work, our structures, and our interests? And how can we, as a diverse group of stakeholders, act effectively together?

With FREO VERNETZT, we are creating a space in which we can explore these questions together, through dialogue between musicians, network partners, and decision-makers. The event is deliberately conceived as a collective working space: for dialogue, knowledge transfer, and the development of shared perspectives.

We see FREO as a network based on solidarity, mutual learning, and shared responsibility. Particularly in the face of increasingly precarious and complex working conditions, solidarity is not an ideal, but a fundamental prerequisite for a sustainable future — for each individual, for independent ensembles and orchestras, and for our music scene as a whole.
