Heroines of Sound Festival

Heroines of Sound 2026 creates spaces of resonance for pioneering voices in electronic music and sound art. Through radical sonic worlds and distinctive artistic approaches, the festival’s artists actively shape the aesthetic discourses of our time. The thirteenth edition explores an interdisciplinary landscape of immersive, performative and kinetic works, where new constellations continuously emerge at the intersections of sound, performance and technology.

The festival opens with »Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for (26) Coded Organ Voices« by Anouk Kellner, an installation inviting audiences to explore a polyphonic, algorithmically organized body of sound. Here, coded organ voices condense into a sonic architecture oscillating between sensual and mechanical articulation.
In the evening, internationally acclaimed electronic artist Kyoka presents the premiere of »Motion Scapes«, a work in which a newly developed cybernetic apparatus translates genetic traces from the environment into sonic processes. This is followed by a performance from the young Kraków-based ensemble Spółdzielnia Muzyczna, whose program reflects the experimental spirit of its musicians. Yoko Konishi’s »Motus Umbra« focuses on dynamic contrasts between brutal noise textures and near-imperceptible sonic surfaces. Barbara Zach explores the reciprocal relationships between sound and image, while Żaneta Rydzewska juxtaposes organic and artificial sonic worlds. Eloain Lovis Hübner and Nina Fukuoka investigate sonic and rhythmic patterns shaped by glitch aesthetics, – or digitally fragmented and distorted in ways that reframe traditional polka music through an approach that is both ironic and multilayered. The evening concludes with a multimedia set by Miako Klein and Jia Lim, who open up historical resonant spaces with their current release »Nova Atlantis«. Baroque stylistics, advanced technology and virtuosic improvisation meet in a vivid and intricately interwoven dialogue, where temporal layers overlap and sonic memory becomes tangible as a contemporary practice.
