As a saxophone player, Josten Myburghs improvising language is built around very quiet, resonant sounds unfolding over long durations, using circular breathing and sustain pedals to work at extended timescales and he explores harmonies and the rhythms of beating. He often plays outdoors ("as weather").
Chris Heenan is an active composer/performer and organizer of experimental music living in Berlin, Germany. He performs on saxophones, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet and analog synthesizer in contexts ranging from solo to large groups and in various ongoing projects. Heenan uses these instruments to investigate new musical forms, noise, and improvisation both in his solo work and in collaboration with composers and performers such as musicians, dancers, and visual artists.
