In LIMINAL – listening spaces, MAM.manufaktur für aktuelle musik explores the phenomenon of liminal spaces: the time between what was and what is to come – a place of transition, waiting and uncertainty.
Music by Raphaël Languillat, Zeynep Toraman and Catherine Lamb becomes part of a dynamic spatial concept designed by sound artist Ban Lei. The result is a hybrid of sound and installation that allows the music to be experienced like an exhibition space: a place that invites visitors to linger and wander around, where different positions are determined by those present themselves. LIMINAL builds a bridge between the arts and creates musical-performative situations that explore different forms of spatiality and temporality.
This opens up new possibilities for listening and perception. of sound architectures and their network of relationships: between tones and noises, memories, the present and the future.
