Sebastian Stier in conversation with Mathias Lehmann

At the center of the evening stands Sebastian Stier’s composition »Windflüchter II«, a work with an origin that lies as far back as the founding of the Edition Juliane Klein. Despite his age and the many pieces Stier has written since then, it retains to this day an important place in the composer’s output.
In conversation with Mathias Lehmann, Stier will retrospectively discuss the essential compositional approaches of the work, and consider how the tonally structured phenomena of the piece are still relevant and could be taken up and developed in new compositions, even more than 25 years after its creation.
With the performance of »Windflüchter II« from flutist Katrin Plümer taking place in the exhibition at KUNSTPUNKT, visual-spatial presentations which are incorporated into the composition as abstract ideas will appear through experience of the senses in an interaction with the gallery space.
