Kissas

Since the 1930s, Kissas have been serving listening sessions with selected records on high-quality audio systems in intimate cafés in Japan for the price of a coffee or whisky. The Month of Contemporary Music is taking the KISSA concept to the listening bar Unkompress in Berlin-Kreuzberg focusing on local labels in the field of experimental, electronic and contemporary music.

▶ Sacred Realism
Sacred Realism is a Berlin-based label and loose collective active since 2011. Founded by Catherine Lamb, Bryan Eubanks and Andrew Lafkas, it began as a platform for their own work and evolved into a space for shared artistic exploration and mutual support. In addition to releasing recordings and books, the collective has organised concert series such as Series (Studio 8), Spiral Sundays (PAS-Berlin), and the Echo Mirror Salon. 

▶ Feral Note
Feral Note is an audiovisual label and production studio based in Berlin since 2017, moving between chamber music and avant-garde art – always expressive. All releases are published digitally for streaming and download, while selected releases also appear as physical editions, ranging from limited vinyl, tapes and CDs to art prints.

▶ Psychic Liberation
Psychic Liberation is an independent record label and event series founded in 2013. Initially a cassette and record shop project called Primitive Languages, it evolved into a multifaceted entity focusing on experimental and left-field music. The label is now primarily run by Nick Klein, originally from New York City and now based in Europe. It also hosts a monthly concert series, first held at the Volksbühne Roter Salon in Berlin and now based at the Silent Green Kuppelhalle.

▶ Black Truffle
The French black truffle is considered the finest of the edible fungi and has a place in gastronomy alongside saffron, caviar, foie gras and the finest of wines. Widely regarded as the jewel of French cooking, it is prized for its unique flavour and intoxicating aroma. The resident chef at Black Truffle Records has found that the best method for finding the «diamond of the kitchen» requires the use of a divining stick and facing into the sun.
