daadgalerie
When the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program founded the daadgalerie in West Berlin in 1978, it created a place for fellows from different cultural fields to engage with the city and its residents. Since then, the venue has remained the hub of the program’s activities in Berlin.
In 2017 the daadgalerie moved to Kreuzberg—a district characterized by displacement as well as by a commitment to building a plural and diverse urban community. The daadgalerie program arises from the work with the fellows and is enriched by collaborations with other creative practitioners, festivals, universities, galleries, museums, and cultural institutions. It is interdisciplinary and as diverse as the DAAD fellows: exhibitions, concerts, performances, readings, workshop in the fields of visual arts, music & sound, literature, and film.
Admission to all events and exhibitions is free.
Events can be found in the calendar of daadgalerie.
Accessibility:
The station exits at U Moritzplatz don’t offer an elevator and are partly blocked by constructions at the moment. The way from Moritzplatz to the gallery has high curbs. Kottbusser Tor station offers an elevator.
Daadgalerie has two floors. The entrance is accessible via an inward-opening single, rather heavy glass door. It is opened at admission time for events via a wedge. The access has no step. The elevator to the upper floor is located directly opposite the door.
It is also possible to access the upper floor without using the elevator via the emergency exits, but this access is not barrier-free.
The toilet for wheelchair users is located on the first floor and is accessible without steps via the elevator. For assistance on site, please contact the admission staff.
Assistance dogs can be brought to daadgalerie. We will provide water for the dog. There is a little park at Oranienplatz (100 m distance) if you need to walk your dog.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
