Nik Bohnenberger
Nik Bohnenberger is a Luxembourgish composer based in Berlin. He studied composition at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) with Elena Mendoza and Daniel Ott, and also received lessons from Carola Bauckholt, Clara Iannotta, and Francesca Verunelli. His works have been performed by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, The
Present Vocal Ensemble, United Instruments of Lucilin, and at IRCAM. He has participated in festivals such as rainy days, Klangwerkstatt, Bauhausfest Dessau, and ManiFeste Paris.
Bohnenberger is a co-founder of "KOLLEKTIV UNRUHE," a Berlin-based collective for composers* and instrumentalists*. His compositional interests lie between his fascination with experimental instrumental and ensemble writing, his partly integrated, partly independent electroacoustic works, and his drive to discover new theatrical and performative formats through experimental intermediality.
In 2023, he received the DAAD Prize of the UdK for his intermedial project d|ecken. His frst opera NACHT was premiered at the Staatstheater Kassel in July 2024. Since 2025, he has served as the artistic director of Ensemble Recherche.
