»BEBEN« — Ein musikalischer Dialog zwischen Visueller Musik und immersiver Klangzeichnungen
© Harriet Groß + Stefan Roigk, 2024

A musical dialog between visual music and immersive sound drawings. In their exhibition »Beben«, Harriet Groß and Stefan Roigk create an visual-acoustic confrontation that once again sharpens the senses for transitions.

Harriet Groß stages the resulting interferences as sirens – spatial drawings and complex assemblages in the tradition of visual music, which do not resound in an acoustic interpretation by musicians, but as associations in the eye of the beholder.
Stefan Roigk, on the other hand, will devote himself to the phenomenon of the ephemeral in the field of sound. He is interested in sounds that emerge briefly and dimly from the permanent noise of the surrounding at the edge of our perception – and are hidden again unnoticed in the next moment.

Harriet Groß (*1967 in Munich) is a draughtswoman who lives and works in Berlin.
In her spatial drawings, everything becomes material, the void as well as the space itself, the metal bars, the grids, cutouts, strings and the paper of her ink drawings. She is less interested in the center than in the edges, the borders and the spaces in between, whose fanning out of possibilities she focuses on in her works. In recent years, she has increasingly collaborated with musicians to develop sound experiments in the form of acoustic and visual drawings.

Stefan Roigk (* 1974) is a sound artist and lives in Berlin.
He deals with the intermedial interweaving of electroacoustic music, installation, musical graphics and text-sound composition. The resulting works approach sound as a field for artistic and aesthetic research, taking it as both their departure point and central medium.
His artistic focus lies on the dynamic staging of context-related fragments of everyday existence, which he combines with an extraordinarily poetic formal language in narrative-like compositions.
In his work, he reflects on his own living and production conditions, examines the political potential of aurality and traces the subjective construction of reality.
